Week 3 of Non-Varsity Golf Set to Begin

The non-varsity golf campaign is set to begin its third week of play this weekend.

After a week in which we saw multiple individual rounds in the high 60’s, the defending national champion defeated and other great performances around the nation, it is going to be hard to top the drama on Saturday and Sunday.

Ten tournaments will be going on around the nation during the first weekend of the month, and as the leaves turn and postseason baseball begins, college golfers around the nation are geared up for regional tournaments.

NCCGA National Rankings

The Twin Cities Region will host its second tourney of the semester and the first automatic Nationals qualifying bid will be handed out there.

Iowa University (A) enters as the favorite to grab that spot after besting Iowa State by 29 strokes last weekend at Dahlgreen Golf Course.

All nine other tournaments will be the first in their regions this year. The always competitive Capitol, North Carolina, Colonial and Southeast Regions will be in action as teams begin to separate themselves from the pack.

Another region playing its first tournament will be Florida. Coming off a nationals appearance one semester ago, Florida will have a more difficult time this year with eight teams now competing in the region.

Lastly, Kris Hart, Nextgengolf CEO, along with Florida Regional Coordinators Laura Kanouse and Patrick Barnes are being taped for a session on Golf Channel's Morning Drive on Friday. We will keep you posted when it airs!

Stay tuned to the Nextgengolf blog and the @NCCGA twitter handle for more exciting news this week involving the Florida team and a pretty fun morning they have planned with some folks at the Golf Channel.

Until then, good luck and go low!
