NCCGA North Carolina Region Preview

To kick off the Spring 2014 season in the North Carolina region, 7 teams will meet at Lochmere GC on March 22/23 to showdown and claim bragging rights (as well as National qualifying points). Playing at just over 6600 yards with a rating of 132 and a slope of 72.1, it should be the perfect way to start what hopes to be another great year for the NC region.

With ECU having won 3 of the past 6 national titles, and UNC and Duke always having strong teams, is this the year for North Carolina as a state to make another run to a championship? Most of the teams look young, but from what I hear and know, that could mean nothing. And since the national championships are in my own home state of New Jersey, maybe it’s time for a Regional Coordinator to win one of his/her own tournaments.

Lochmere GC

Lochmere is one the premier courses in the Cary, N.C. area.

Overall, look for strong performances from ECU and Wake Forest, two teams with returning players and the skill to go with it. And since it’s March, and I still have a perfect bracket, look for NC State to surprise some people (my upset pick).
