NCCGA Colonial Region Preview

The Colonial region is a break off of the Capitol region, but don’t let that fool you, there is no lack of firepower in this region.

Defending Capitol region champion Virginia is looking to start their repeat bid and make it to another National Championship led by President Christian Dolan. But James Madison and Virginia Tech will no doubt be pushing to gain supremacy in the Colonial region. JMU is led by Robert Zehnder and Virginia Tech is led by David Heller, who both qualified as individuals to play in the Fall 2013 National Championship.

Lexington GC

The Colonial Region is expected to be one of the most competitive this season.

The main storyline for this tournament is how the recent weather has affected the players and their ability to prepare for this important tournament. Most teams have been unable to play for the majority of the last 5 months and wiping the dust off may take a little longer than expected. Whoever is able to capitalize on the opportunities early, will have an upper hand on the rest of the field.

Lexington Golf and Country Club offers a perfect setting to kick off the season as it is one of the top rated courses in Virginia. Don’t let the distance fool you either; Lexington G&CC will make you pay dearly for wayward shots and short game mistakes with narrow fairways and lightning fast greens.

Who will claim the title of inaugural Colonial champion? We will have to wait and see.
