PGA Team Golf Rules & Eligibilty

• Each tournament has two different formats (2-person Best Ball or 2-person Scramble) - prizes will be awarded to the winners of each format and both formats are eligible to qualify for the PGA Team Golf National Championship. Preferred format can be selected before each tournament but is not guaranteed to be the format played.
• Teams are composed of 2 players
• Individuals will be assigned to a partner if one is available. If a partner is not available, individuals will play as singles.
  • Singles will play their own ball in either format
• Approximate yardages:
  • Every effort will be made to conduct events using the yardage guidelines below. Please keep in mind that every golf course has a different offering of tee boxes and yardages. Some will not align with our desired setup.
    • Men 59 and younger: ~6300 - 6500 yards
    • Men 60+: ~5700 - 5900 yards
    • Women 49 and younger: ~5,100 - 5300 yards
    • Women 50+: ~4600 - 4800
• All competitions will be governed by the most current USGA Rules of Golf. However, as scramble play is not recognized in the USGA Rules of Golf, the PGA of America feels it is important to establish guidelines by which this format can be reasonably governed. Therefore, the following adaptations will be made:
  • Scramble format allows players to move the ball 1 club length no closer to the hole but must remain in the same area of the golf course
    • Example: you may move the ball from rough to fairway but cannot move the ball from a penalty area or bunker to another part of the golf course
  • Teams should exchange scorecards at the first tee so players are keeping the other pair’s score. At the end of the round, hole-by-hole scores should be confirmed with your markers and signed by at least one member of each team in the group.
  • Triple bogey is the maximum any team can take on a hole. If the ball is not holed for a double bogey, you are required to pick up.
    • If players do not complete the hole by putting out and tee off on the next hole, they get triple regardless of how many strokes were taken on the previous hole
  • Teammates can provide advice to other teammates at any point during the round
  • All players that are late for their tournament tee time will be assessed a score of triple bogey for each hole that they miss but will still be allowed to complete play
  • In the event all competitors are not able to finish all 18 holes of competition, the event may be shortened to 9 holes.
• No caddies are permitted during tournaments
• Range finders and electronic measuring devices are allowed as long as slope and wind measurement capabilities are disabled
• If a team is unable to complete the round for any reason, partial scores will be taken and all final holes will receive an automatic Triple Bogey.
• Players must return their scorecards to the on-site ambassador or tournament director.

In the event any tiebreaker cannot be settled with the following procedures, the PGA of America will be consulted

Team Tiebreaker Policy for PGA Team Golf Tournaments

• The scores from each team will be used on the following holes:
  • Holes 10-18; if still tied,
  • Holes 13-18; if still tied,
  • Holes 16-18.; if still tied,
  • The score for the 18th hole only will be used, and then continued backwards by comparing the 17th hole only, 16th hole only, etc. until a winner has been determined.

• PGA Team Golf tournaments do not require conforming grooves and do not ban anchored putters
• Alcohol is permitted during play for players over 21.  Players drink at their own risk and must act responsibly
• Proper dress is required: no tank tops, t-shirts, denim shorts, short shorts, cut-offs, gym shorts or jeans are allowed. If dressed inappropriately, the course can refuse the right to let you play
• Prize Policy - Prizes will be awarded to Best Ball and Scramble teams and pairs
• PGA Team Golf Inclement Weather Policy
  • PGA Team Golf tournaments will go on rain or shine. Every effort will be made to complete all 18 holes of the competition. Play will only be suspended, rescheduled or canceled if the course staff deems the golf course unplayable or there is a dangerous situation. The event may be delayed to wait out any passing conditions. Participants that choose not to play will not be eligible for a refund.
  • Inclement weather will be monitored by the Tournament Director and Team Golf Ambassador as well as the course professional staff
  • If everyone in the field finishes 9 holes, no refunds will be issued. If the field does not finish 9 holes, the PGA of America will work with the course to determine the facility's normal refund/rain check policy
• PGA Team Golf Local Event Refund Policy
  • Any cancellations 7 or more days before the tournament date will be refunded less a $10 cancellation fee
  • Promotional codes cannot be retroactively used for prior purchases
  • No refunds or credits will be issued for no-shows or cancellations less than a week prior to the event.
• PGA Team Golf charges a non-refundable convenience fee for each transaction processed. Please note, convenience fees will not be refunded.

• Most tournaments will include a cart as part of the tournament fee. Walking is permitted if you choose to walk but the cart fee is non-refundable.
